Ascot angle: four previous course winners form each-way Lucky 15 on Friday 🍀

Ascot isn’t a track which would suit every horse. It’s right-handed and is fairly stiff which are two factors that can alter a horse’s effectiveness. With this in mind, Liam Bramall has picked out four horses who have previously won at Ascot running on Day 4. This could end up being an advantage which can facilitate some big efforts. Check out our Royal Ascot page for tips in every race across the five days.

3.05 Ascot

Ehraz (6-1, William Hill) won his maiden over course and distance in July. That was a visually impressive performance with a substantial winning distance of over four lengths. Ground conditions were similar to what he’s likely to experience here. Beaten by the narrowest of margins at Newbury last time, the stiffer track will suit and a big run can be expected from Richard Hannon’s colt.

3.40 Ascot

State Of Bliss (40-1, bet 365) is available at a massive price and it’s dangerous to ignore Charlie and Mark Johnston in competitive middle-distance handicaps. This gelding won a course and distance Shergar Cup race back in August by an impressive three-and-three-quarter lengths. His current rating of 91 is only 4lb higher than that winning mark. Already a winner at Ripon this campaign, he could be overpriced here.

4.20 Ascot

Grande Dame (16-1, bet 365) won a conditions race on debut over course and distance. The form of that race has worked out well with the horses in behind placing at Listed level subsequently. Connections were expecting her to improve for that run and were somewhat surprised that she won so well. She would have learned plenty at York last time and should take a step forward here.

6.10 Ascot

Sterling Knight (12-1, bet 365) is yet to run at 5f which is an interesting fact to ponder here. Ed Dunlop’s gelding won here last time over 6f and is up 6lb in the handicap as a consequence. He’s an improving three-year-old who is yet to taste defeat this season. It could be worth giving him another chance as his limit is yet to be exposed.
