The significant draw bias at Beverley can be extremely difficult to overcome. This becomes particularly prevalent in races over five or seven furlongs, making it hard to ignore. You should always go low when looking at the draw here and we’ve picked out three such horses that could take advantage. Sometimes it’s better to go with the draw rather than try to take it on. Insolente (stall 1) won a course and distance seller on her penultimate start, which bodes well for her chances here. That win would have been a confidence-booster and she run well at Thirsk last time, with the race conditions not being in her favour. She returns to handicap company here and should be competitive off this sort of mark, with the best possible inside draw.
Gone (stall 2) won three on the bounce before being narrowly denied at Hamilton last time out. The last of those win came by just shy of four lengths at Bath over a mile. She has risen 10lb in the ratings as a result of her winning streak. Further progress can’t be ruled out here and a swift return to the winners’ enclosure looks like a distinct possibility.
Valley Of Flowers (stall 2) was closing with every stride over course and distance on her penultimate start. It’s worth noting that she didn’t have the smoothest of passages and had to wait for a run. More positive tactics would be helpful this time, as there will be plenty of takers for her spot on the inside. She has the same draw and similar ground conditions here. With some better luck, Valley Of Flowers could go one better this time around.
