All-weather outsiders: Liam bids to follow up 22-1 winner with another 22-1 shot 🏇

Embour wins at Kempton under Martin Dwyer

It was a good weekend for our regular outsiders articles. We struck gold with a 22-1 winner on Saturday and 28-1 third at Leopardstown on Sunday. Liam Bramall is bidding to follow up with three more long shots running on the all-weather at Kempton on Wednesday. The three runners in question are available at substantial odds of 22-1, 16-1 and 14-1. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

6.30 Kempton

Los Camachos (22-1, William Hill) has a significant absence to overcome, which seems to have been factored into his price. John Gallagher’s gelding last won over course and distance in September 2021, off a mark of 67. His best recent performance came at Wolverhampton in January 2022 when he finished second by just a short head, off 69. The handicapper has put him down 5lb since his last run back in April, which makes him look well-treated. Likely to improve for this run, but he wouldn’t be the first to win after such a long absence and it could be worth taking a punt at this price.

Top Of The Class (16-1, bet365) was fourth behind a now 96-rated horse and beaten by just two-and-a-quarter lengths on her second start. Thoroughly unexposed, she’s had just four starts so far and made her handicap debut at Southwell last time out. Drops into a 0-65 here and qualifies as a consequence of the handicapper lowering her mark by 3lb. She would have learnt plenty from that experience and we should see a much improved performance.

8.00 Kempton

Solent Gateway (14-1, William Hill) goes in the £25,000 feature race and shouldn’t be discounted. Needed the run badly on his first start for 163 days at Southwell two starts ago so that effort can be forgiven. That excuse ran true as he won a competitive handicap at Wolverhampton off a mark of 91 last time out. It was a career-best performance last time and if he can progress again, he shouldn’t be far away here.
