There’s a competitive card at Southwell on Tuesday and there are plenty of runners. This means there are numerous each-way opportunities on offer. We’ve selected three outsiders at big prices who could have snuck under the radar. All three may well prove to have better chances than these huge prices suggest. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Iato’s Angel (18-1, William Hill) is not one to give up on just yet. Keith Dalgleish’s filly has already won once, scoring in a Hamilton maiden back in July. She ran a huge race when fourth in a decent nursery back at that same venue in August off a mark of 76. Now down to a 8lb lower mark and has to be dangerous on that evidence. If the step up to a mile suits, a return to the winners’ enclosure could be on the cards.
Covert Mission (16-1, William Hill) hasn’t been in the best of form in his last three starts. One huge factor he has in his favour this time around is he’s now back down to his last winning mark. That victory came at Kempton back in October and the third, fifth and ninth have all won since. Daniel Muscutt takes the ride and his form in the last fortnight has been very strong.
Thornaby Beauty (16-1, William Hill) has had just three starts so far. All three came in maiden company and she makes her handicap debut here. She showed enough on debut behind three subsequent winners to suggest that winning races isn’t beyond her. This opening mark of 57 is tempting on that evidence as three of the horses ahead of her are now 80+ rated. Handicapping should be much more to her liking and she can thrive in this sphere.
