Willie Mullins is operating at an astonishing 32 per cent strike-rate so far this season, and the master of Closutton has three outstanding chances at Punchestown Racecourse on Sunday. In the last five seasons, Mullins has amassed 162 winners at this venue with a 24 per cent yield, and it would be no surprise at all if the three horses we will talk about below all win! The switch to chasing seems to have brought out major improvement in Blood Destiny, who bolted up on his chasing bow at Naas in December. With Grade 1 entries at the Dublin Racing Festival, the son of No Risk At All won twice over hurdles last season before running a poor race in the Triumph. Fences will be his bag and he can win again.
Mystical Power, a son of Galileo and Annie Power, is beautifully bred and can maintain his unbeaten record upped in class. He won a decent novice race at Galway in July in style and although his jumping was sketchy at times, he has had plenty of time off to get some good schooling sessions in. Some top class Mullins horse have won this race in the past and he could be another.
Readin Tommy Wrong won the Grade 1 Lawlor’s Of Naas on Friday and that has to bode well for the chances of Lisnagar Fortune, who would have beat that horse in another stride when flashing home at Cork when last seen. That is the standout form in the book and he should win.
