Aidan O’Brien has his first Salisbury runner since 2005 on Thursday

It has been a long time since we have seen a Ballydoyle runner at Salisbury, but that is about to chance as Aidan O’Brien sends one runner to the track on Thursday. The last time he had a runner there was when he had two runners in the Group 3 Autumn Stakes in 2005, a race where Dylan Thomas finished second with stablemate Arabian Prince back in third. Before we take a look at the horse in question, be reminded that we now have ITV Racing tips live on our website and we had a huge 14-1 Nap winner on Tuesday so check out today’s Nap of the Day.

2.40 Salisbury

The horse in question is Cambridge, who will run in a novice race worth just £5,400 which is unusual to see for this yard. Nonetheless, Ryan Moore will take the ride on the son of Dubawi, who finished third to Beauty Thunder on his debut at Roscommon over the extended 7f last month.

The ground was on the softer side on the day and he ran well enough but maybe the faster ground will see him in a better light on his second career start. One would think there is significant improvement to come which is the norm for O’Brien runners but he won’t have it all his own way, that’s for sure.

One at a bigger price that is worth monitoring in the betting is Richard Hannon’s Boyfriend, who ran really well behind a smart horse on fast ground at Windsor on his debut. Of the newcomers, expensive purchase Endosser is also worth a market check in what is a fascinating race on paper.
