Adrian’s Cheltenham Festival Bets: ‘He will relish the step up to three miles’ 🐎

Might Bite in the 2017 RSA Chase

Welcome to my Cheltenham Festival 2022 tracker where I will be keeping a log of all of my ante-post bets. We are nearing the end of November and after an exciting November Meeting at Cheltenham, an incredible Betfair Chase and a fantastic weekend at Fairyhouse and Newbury, we move onto Tingle Creek weekend.

I will have a selection for all of my followers every week and will only choose one horse per race. All of my horses will be found at the bottom of my weekly article. So let’s move on to my second selection and how this horse is the price he is with Boylesports is beyond me. The 20-1 on offer looks like a gift from heaven.

Festival Novices’ Chase (RSA)

Last season’s Stayers’ Hurdle fourth Beacon Edge couldn’t have been more impressive in the Drinmore at Fairyhouse on Sunday for trainer Noel Meade. He was fancied to run well but the trip was on the short side for him and the ground was good so to go and win that race on his second chase start was ultra impressive.

Beacon Edge benefitted from the leaders making mistakes late on in the race, where then his stamina came into overdrive after the second last. He jumped the last really well and powered home to get on top close home. It is clear as day that he wants three miles so it looks like all roads will lead to the Festival Novices’ Chase in March.

It is hard to believe that Beacon Edge is still 20-1 given his performance at the weekend. He is the same price as Minella Drama but his form is head and shoulders above that runner. The current favourite for the race Galopin Des Champs hasn’t seen a fence in public yet, yet here we have a classy hurdler who is a Grade 1 winner over fences four times the price of that runner. It isn’t often you can snap up a bit of value on the ante-post markets these days but I think they have got it wrong here.
