Adrian Wall’s Cheltenham Tracker: ‘I think he will win the Stayers’ on the bridle” 🥇

Paisley Park and Aidan Coleman win the Stayers' Hurdle at the 2019 Cheltenham Festival

Welcome to my Cheltenham Festival 2022 tracker where I will be keeping a log of all of my ante-post bets. We are now well into November and after an exciting November Meeting at Cheltenham and incredible Betfair Chase, we move onto Ladbrokes Trophy and Fighting Fifth Hurdle weekend.

I will have a selection for all of my followers every week and will only choose one horse per race. All of my horses will be found at the bottom of my weekly article. So let’s move on to my second selection which comes in what could turn out to be a brilliant renewal of the Stayers’ Hurdle.

Stayers’ Hurdle

The beautiful grey Buzz in my view should be favourite for the Stayers’ Hurdle at the 2022 Cheltenham Festival off the back of his brilliant performance in the Ascot Hurdle, where he made short work of his rivals.

Nicky Henderson’s up and coming stable star is all class being a former winner of the Cesarewitch on the Flat but is just as classy over a hurdle. He jumps impeccably well and is fast through the air, conserving energy at every flight.

A very strong traveller, he should be well suited to this race for all I think he would place in a Champion Hurdle too. However, it is probably wise that they don’t try to take on Honeysuckle when they don’t have to. It would be a tall order to give her lumps of weight.

The biggest concern for Buzz backers would be whether he stays 3m or not – after all, he is unproven beyond 2m4f at the moment. But given the way he jumps and travels and his staying abilities on the Flat, one would have to think that he will only relish it. I think he will win the Stayers’ on the bridle.
