Adrian Wall’s Cheltenham Festival Bets: ‘I don’t think the 20-1 will last Forlonge’ ⏳

Welcome to my Cheltenham Festival 2022 tracker where I will be keeping a log of all of my ante-post bets. We are nearing the festive period which is always an incredible month for National Hunt enthusiasts, capped off with the King George on Boxing Day.

I will have a selection for all of my followers every week and will only choose one horse per race. All of my horses will be found at the bottom of my weekly article. So let’s move on to my next selection and how this horse is the price he is with bet365 is beyond me. I don’t think the 20-1 will last Forlonge, pardon the pun.

Ryanair Chase

Allaho is the current 5-2 favourite to win the Ryanair Chase back to back after his success in the John Durkan at Punchestown last weekend. He bolted up in the race last year but there is n doubt in my mind that he would have finished second in the race if Asterion Forlonge didn’t make a hash of it three from home and unseat his rider.

The Willie Mullins-trained beautiful grey is a bit of an enigma but he should now be a Grade 1 winner over fences. He is a temperamental sort that can fluff his lines which is his main downfall, but how he is nearly eight times the price Allaho is for the Ryanair Chase in March is beyond me.

It would be no shock to see Mullins send Asterion Forlonge to Kempton for the King George on Boxing Day. A flat track over three miles could certainly suit him given the way he travels. He is a classy horse, evident by his 14 length demolition of his rivals in a handicap off 152 at Punchestown last April. He is prone to an error which is always the worry, but if he gets around at Cheltenham, he could be the one that they all have to beat.
