Kim Bailey had a day he won’t forget in a hurry on Saturday just gone. An absolutely brilliant trainer, he tasted Grade One success once again with First Flow in the Clarence House Chase. The horse has a real liking for Ascot but took his form to new levels when running out a 7-length winner. Current Queen Mother Champion chaser and Tingle Creek holder Politologue was no match for him on the run-in.

Rocky can land the treasure

As already mentioned, Kim Bailey is a terrific trainer and he knows how to keep improving them. Rocky’s Treasure fits the bill as one of the more likely winners of this valuable £42k Listed handicap. He left his poor Newbury run in November well behind when winning over this course and distance last month.

A horse that will relish a flat track and testing conditions, he is set to improve on that run once again. This is only his fourth start of the season so he will be fresh enough. Twice a winner around this course, he clearly loves it and a seven pound rise in the weights might not prevent the follow up.

It must also be noted that 10-year-old’s have a good recent record in the race. This is of course a complete lottery of a handicap but the current price of 14-1 looks like a decent price.
