2.23 Hamilton

Koulikoro was only just denied when second by a neck on debut at Nottingham in June and a repeat of that effort would surely give her every chance. Showing signs of inexperience when wandering around in the closing stages, she’ll improve for that experience. She probably won’t need to find a great deal in order to go one better here but is entitled to improve significantly nonetheless.

Her pedigree suggests she’s more than capable of winning races as six of her half-siblings have tasted success. This includes the very useful sprint handicapper Wobwobwob, who has picked up more than £100,000 in prize money.

There are a couple of standout dangers here, including Kevin Ryan’s runner Thecla who improved from her debut to finish second at Carlisle when last seen. Hugo Palmer’s Misty Sky wasn’t beaten far when third at Chepstow last month and is likely to be in the mix once again.

West doesn’t send runners up to Hamilton with much frequency and it’s easy to see why. He has a couple of winners from just a handful of runners in the last five seasons, which gives him a healthy strike-rate however. This information suggests that Koulikoro isn’t being sent up just for a day out.
