Course form can be absolutely crucial when looking for a winner. If you know your way around a place, you are going to have an advantage over somebody who has never been there before. The same applies to horses – knowing your way around a venue is always a big advantage. Adrian Wall has picked out 3 former course winners at Newmarket on Friday. He has formed an enormous 649-1 accumulator with all three runners, who have solid chances individually. It can be backed with William Hill.
Mark Johnston has won this race six times since 2013 which is quite incredible so King Frankel is likely to be a popular pick. However, John Gosden’s Peter The Great could be tough to beat. By New Approach, the well-bred colt bolted up here on the July course over this distance last month and can continue his good progress.
Again, this is a race where Mark Johnston does very well, winning the last two runnings of the contest. Hochfeld has been in good form of late, finishing third in the Chester Cup and was runner-up in the Northumberland Plate when last seen. The former course and distance winner is likely to give it a good shot yet again with Ben Curtis aboard.
This is one of the most competitive renewals of the Falmouth you are likely to see. Indie Angel is the only course winner in the field and showed dramatic improvement to bolt up in the Duke Of Cambridge at Royal Ascot last time. She had some of these behind and really loved the fast conditions, which she has again here. Probably overpriced on the face of it.
