500-mile round trip: Henry de Bromhead sends one to Hereford for the first time

We’re used to seeing Henry de Bromhead send raiders over to Britain and the County Waterford-based trainer has had plenty of success, particularly at the Cheltenham Festival. One British track that he’s never had a runner at before is Hereford but that could be about to change on Wednesday.

De Bromhead is set to send one horse over for the opening race of their seven-race card. This has to be a noteworthy runner and certainly one to look out for. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Emotivo was a 74-rated maiden on the Flat and her best effort in that sphere was probably a three-length third to the very smart Jackie Oh in a maiden over a mile at Naas. She’s in expert hands as she embarks on a career over hurdles and has had two starts over timber so far.

There was plenty to like about her hurdles debut and she ran well to finish fourth, in spite of some horrific luck in-running. The daughter of Belardo was hampered multiple times throughout the race and had a bit of a rough time.

With that in mind, her run at Gowran last time out was a little disappointing. Fading tamely on the run-in, she was far too keen and made life difficult for herself. It’s fair to assume that she’s better than that however and her previous run is probably a more accurate reflection of her ability.

This could be a shrewd piece of placement from her trainer as she comes up against her fellow fillies here and should find life much easier in this company. Jockey Darragh O’Keeffe also makes the trip over and connections will be anticipating a big run.
