When looking at Royal Ascot these days it is hard to get away from the number of leading chances that will be ridden by Ryan Moore. He has won the top jockey title four years in a row and looks like having an excellent chance of making it five on the bounce this year. He is odds-on to retain his crown this week and it’s not hard to see why. His partnership with the master of Ballydoyle, Aidan O’Brien, has proven to be extremely fruitful in all the top races in recent times and the same looks likely at Royal Ascot 2018.
Best Chances: Hydrangea (Duke Of Cambridge Stakes Tips), Order Of St George (Gold Cup Tips), Crystal Ocean (Hardwicke Stakes Tips)
A clear second in the betting for this category is Frankie Dettori who is the only jockey currently riding with more Royal Ascot winners than Ryan Moore and looks set to have another successful week having been out due to injury in 2017. He is the go-to man for plenty of trainers not least John Gosden, who he enjoyed great success with last season on the likes of Enable and Cracksman. He has a top book of rides with plenty of favourites but is one to keep an eye on even with less-fancied types as he knows this course so well.
Best Chances: Cracksman (Prince Of Wales’s Stakes Tips) Without Parole (St. James’s Palace Stakes Tips) Stradivarius (Gold Cup Tips)
Christophe Soumillon adds a welcome international flavour to the selection of jockeys at this great meeting and the French Champion Jockey’s presence on any horse can only be viewed as a positive this week. He is an excellent judge of pace and very strong in the finish so will certainly get the best out of any horse he is jocked up on. He has been successful at the highest level at this meeting with wins on Valixir in the Queen Anne in 2005 and Ervedya just three years ago in the Coronation Stakes so knows the track well and has a few interesting rides booked.
Best Chances: Vazirabad (Gold Cup Tips) Benbatl (Queen Anne Stakes Tips)
There are few better jockeys in the world on the straight mile at Ascot than Jamie Spencer and any of his charges in those races should be taken very seriously. He has been Champion Jockey in both England and Ireland and has shown his brilliance at Ascot time and time again over the years. He will be booked on some interesting horses especially in the mile handicaps and his presence is a massive positive for punters.
Best Chances: Raising Sand (Royal Hunt Cup Tips) Society Power (Jersey Stakes Tips) Lord Glitters (Queen Anne Stakes Tips)
James Doyle has been flying this season and with his connection with Godolphin allowing him more leeway to ride for different owners this season he has landed himself some excellent rides for this year’s Royal Ascot meeting. He started his season with a bang on Addeybb in the Lincoln and will look to continue his success at the Royal Meeting this year having been successful on Barney Roy for Richard Hannon in the St. James’s Palace last year. Plenty of trainers have jumped at the opportunity to book him this year and he looks likely to have a great week.
Best Chances: Sun Maiden (Ribblesdale Stakes Tips) Invincible Army (Commonwealth Cup Tips) Dreamfield (Wokingham Stakes Tips)
