3 favourites to avoid backing on Thursday

Chepstow Racecourse

A huge part of gambling is to find the right favourites to take on. In the Cheltenham Festival mini jury piece, we suggested three favourites for the week that our tipsters would be laying. They were Concertista, Chacun Pour Soi and Paisley Park and all were beaten. Black Tears and Put The Kettle On were 14/1 and 9/1 winners tipped in the first pair.

There are a few who we will be taking on with our free horse racing tips on Thursday at Chepstow and Sedgefield. Cork and Ludlow also see action during the afternoon on the final day of the short break with no evening or all-weather action. There is a ‘not to win’ market at bet365 which are perfect for the three below.

12.30 Chepstow – Sadma

Was said to appreciate soft last time, October 2018 the last time he ran well enough on good ground to win this. His new mark is four pounds lower than the mark he has to run off here under his penalty. That looks a big negative for a twelve-year-old.

He was placed off two pounds higher in Jan 2020 but had a seven-pound claimer on board, with his only other win in last 5+ years (Dec 2015) coming off 81 on soft. Didn’t want to line up last time when he did win and makes no appeal in a follow up bid.

2.22 Sedgefield – Dargiannini

Twice a winner at this track, a bumper and a hurdle but the form of both are very poor. By contrast, the second place finish from Away At Dawn in November on good ground splitting Gunsight Ridge and Onemorefortheroad has been well franked. The favourite has a best RPR of 125 V 121 for the second favourite, that’s nothing like a big enough gulf for the forecast prices.

3.37 Chepstow – Becky The Boo

Didn’t achieve much with her win on Tapeta last time and penalties are hard to carry in bumpers, even for smart types. The other penalised runner has produced more and Nicky Henderson has a half-sister to Livelovelaugh making her debut. Both of those make more appeal with a big galloping track liable to suit the Henderson well.
