A winning 9/1 Acca on Monday was followed by another big multiple winner on Tuesday! On a day where the number of winners went into double figures we also landed a 25/1 Each Way Double for good measure – and it was oh so close to being even better! Initially our daily double bet paid 45/1 but due to a dead-heat in the first leg our returns were cut significantly, a fact made even more sickening when witnessing the selection with his head in front a yard before AND after the line. Of course we’re absolutely delighted to land another huge win for our followers, but if you haven’t seen the replay yet, don’t put yourself through it!
How We Landed The Each Way Double
Leg 1 – Alminar (2.40pm Ffos Las)
Having improved for the step up to 3 miles last time and knowing that he handles the forecast softer ground we fancied the six-year-old’s chances under a decent amateur claiming 7lbs. The selection was settled towards the back of the field and got into a nice rhythm before a couple of sketchy jumps out to the right mid race. From 3 out it looked as if there was too much to do, at 2 out Nigel Hawke’s mount really started to run on well and despite getting his head in front just before the line the judge called for a photo. In a tense few minutes it was decided that the head bob was enough to bring Top And Drop back level with Alminar in a bittersweet results for myracing followers!
Leg 2 – Bonne Question (3.10pm Ffos Las)
We didn’t have long to wait for the next leg and having just got over the drama of the tight finish in the last race, before we knew it the starter had dropped his flag and we were off! In what turned out to be a good day for Venetia Williams, the standout performer was undoubtedly this lightly raced 10-year-old. He arrived on a mark that he was well capable of winning from and my word how he did just that! Held up by Charlie Deutsch, the horse was always travelling well and by 3 out he’d already gone into a comfortable lead from which point the race was never in doubt, Bonne Question going on to record a bloodless victory by 19 lengths! Double landed!
