It has been a brilliant weekend for Adrian Wall’s outsiders. He tipped Quadruple to win at the Curragh on Friday and the horse obliged at 12/1, while he also put up Fivethousandtoone on Saturday at Newcastle, who won at a massive 25/1! Let’s see what Adrian fancies at the Curragh on Sunday.
East Hampton (16/1) ran a cracker in a Group 3 at Leopardstown on latest over 7f but should relish a return to sprinting now. He won a course and distance maiden last October before winning a 7f handicap at Naas, and then finished a close-up third here over 7f off a mark of 96. It’s a surprise to see odds of 16/1 available for him dropping down in class considering he only went off at odds of 13/2 on his latest outing. He has a good chance here.
Cuban Grey (40/1) seems to be completely overlooked in the market and should be much closer to 14/1 rather than the available 40s. PJ McKenna’s five-year-old won over course and distance off a mark of 70 in April and he comes here on the back of a cracking second at Down Royal off 72. He races from the same mark here and although this is obviously a much deeper contest, he gets weight off the entire field and has a good 7lb claimer aboard.
Serious Contender (33/1) is hard to fancy for win purposes in the Irish Derby but there’s a chance that he could nick a place late on. Out of a Galileo mare who’s a sister to a Derby runner-up, he improved for the step up to 1m4f when second in a Royal Ascot handicap on latest. This is a massive step up in class but he’s unexposed still and might surprise with a huge run.
