Adrian Wall knows how to spot a big priced winner and is back with four tasty selections for Monday’s racing action. The four horses could return £36,533 with William Hill at the time of posting for a £0.50p each-way unit stake.
Brian Hughes is a highly sought after rider and he will take the reins on Johnny Farrelly’s Song Of The Hunter here. A maiden hurdle winner last season at Taunton, he was travelling like a winner on seasonal bow when falling two from home at Hereford. He wasn’t so good at the same track when last seen but has to be worth another chance.
Espion Du Chenet was an impressive winner at Naas in December in a race that has worked out quite well. The seven-year-old gelding unseated rider next time at Thurles when travelling well and was pulled up when last seen. Something was amiss on that occasion because he looked sure to figure and he is worth a play at the prices.
Rated 155, Aso is the class act in this field and if he puts his best foot forward, he will be difficult to beat. The game front runner had a heavy fall in the Becher Chase on his first try over the National fences. That didn’t work out but he will feel much more at home over these fences. Won from higher marks in the past and highly tried at Grade 1 level so has to be feared.
Holly James is on a recovery mission back over hurdles but the handicapper has given him a major chance here. A former winner of a bumper and hurdles race, he finished runner-up the last time he raced at Warwick in March 2020. That was from this very mark of 114 so if the return to this venue sparks him back to life, he is a major player.
