16/1 and 8/1 #YourOdds offers for 11-time King George winning trainer

Clan Des Obeaux winning the Denman Chase at Ascot

The feature race of Christmas, the King George VI Chase has a roll of honour like no other. Winners since the turn of the century include Kicking King, Kauto Star, Long Run, Siviniaco Conti and Cue Card. That gives you a good idea of the calibre of horse needed to win the prestigious contest.

That’s the reason Paul Nicholls’ record in the race is quite so spectacular. The Ditcheat based trainer has won the race a remarkable 11 times, including five with the all-time great Kauto Star.

He’s won the last two renewals with Clan Des Obeaux, who returns for a date with history. We’ve taken a look through the #YourOdds offering for the King George and have found two that could maximise your profit. Our horse racing tips will be on site on Christmas Eve, but find the two offers below!

Clan Des Obeaux to win the King George and Punchestown Gold Cup (16/1)

You’ll have seen us talking sweetly about Clan Des Obeaux’s chances for weeks now for very good reason. He’s won the race for the past two years, including a 21-length success twelve months ago over stable-mate Cyrname. He reappeared with a fantastic second in the Betfair Chase and he tends to come on leaps and bounds for his seasonal return.

Cheltenham doesn’t suit him, so the King George is his Gold Cup. The fact he’s a bigger price than his stablemate just doesn’t read right. After all, Cyrname couldn’t lay up with him twelve months ago, why will this year be any different? All of Cyrname’s best runs have come at Ascot and his form away from the venue doesn’t stack up to Clan Des Obeaux.

If you think like us and believe he has a strong chance, then why not lengthen the odds with #YourOdds. With Cheltenham off the radar, the Punchestown Gold Cup could be his next target after Kempton. If you think he can win both contests, he’s 16/1 to do just that with William Hill.

Paul Nicholls to train 1-2-3 in King George VI Chase

There were just five runners in last year’s King George and Paul Nicholls trained the front two, who pulled miles clear of the rest. Nicholls has four entries in 2020 and there’s a real chance that he comes away with the first-three positions.

Clan Des Obeaux and Cyrname are the two horses to focus on and there’s a strong possibility they could have the forecast between them again. The next two in the market are Santini and Lostintranslation, who both have question marks next to their names.

Real Steel is 14/1 at the time of writing and ran a huge race in last year’s Gold Cup for Willie Mullins. He ran better than the bare result on debut for Nicholls at Ascot and a sharp three miles at Kempton could really play to his strengths.

Frodon is the final entry for Nicholls and he’s by no means an also ran. His Cheltenham victory two starts ago was very impressive and he’s a course winner. His latest run at Aintree was very poor, however, and he does need to bounce back from that. If he gets into a good rhythm out in front, you couldn’t rule him out for the final place at a big price.

If you fancy Nicholls to train the first three home, you can get 8/1 with #YourOdds!
