156/1 Antepost Acca for all the big Christmas races!

Clan Des Obeaux winning the King George at Kempton

Christmas is a special time of year, and we’re not just talking about the family time and gift giving! Horse racing comes alive in the festive period and we’re treated to a feast of top class action.

The headline act is, of course, the King George at Kempton, a Grade 1 for the stayers. We’re set for a blockbuster renewal, but we’ll also have the Christmas Hurdle and plenty of Irish Grade 1s to keep us full of festive cheer.

With less than a week to go until the action, we’ve put together an antepost accumulator that includes all of the big races. You can find all our horse racing tips on site now, but check out the antepost fancies below!

Accumulator is best-price as of 2:30pm on Monday with Betfair.

Racing Post Novice Chase – Felix Desjy

On paper, this is a match race between Energumene and Felix Desjy. The former has been impressive thus far, but the latter’s proven form at the top level swings the verdict.

Gordon Elliott’s charge was a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and is unbeaten in two starts over fences. A facile winner on chasing debut, he won a Punchestown Grade 2 cosily on his most recent start, accounting for Darver Star.

The sky is the limit for this well thought of seven-year-old and another Grade 1 victory could beckon.

Faugheen Novice Chase – Asterion Forlonge

Fourth in the Supreme at last year’s Festival, Grade 1 winning hurdler Asterion Forlonge made an eye-catching chasing debut at Punchestown last month.

He jumped right on occasion, but in spite of some errant jumps, he won with plenty in hand. The step up in distance is set to suit Willie Mullins charge and he comfortably sets the form standard against his probable rivals.

He does hold an entry in the Racing Post Novice Chase but this looks to be his likely assignment, and one he should pass with flying colours.

King George – Clan Des Obeaux

Paul Nicholls has a simply remarkable record in the Christmas showpiece. He’s won the King George an incredible eleven times, including the two most recent renewals with Clan Des Obeaux. The hat-trick beckons for this classy chaser on Boxing Day.

Beating Thistlecrack to win the 2018 renewal, he gave Cyrname a twenty-one length schooling twelve months ago. The Nicholls stars reoppose and it’s difficult to see how Cyrname can turn the form around. His sole Grade 1 came at his beloved Ascot, where he beat Waiting Patiently and a pair of non-stayers over the 2m 5f distance. He did win on return, but this field is a totally different ball game.

Everything speaks positively in Clan Des Obeaux’s favour and he can deliver another knockout blow to his stablemate.

Future Champions Novice Hurdle – Ballyadam

This Grade 1 contest is going to be extremely informative, as Appreciate It squares off with Ballyadam. Both have merit to their claims, but Gordon Elliott’s potential star gets the verdict.

He came with a tall reputation in bumpers and hasn’t disappointed over timber. Winning his debut in comfortable fashion, he won far easier than the winning margin suggests at Fairyhouse in the Grade 1 Royal Bond.

As Elliott alluded to after that success, he’s still just a baby and further improvement can be expected as he gains experience. Beating Appreciate It will be no easy feat, but there’s something special about an Elliott trained horse in Cheveley Park Stud colours.

Savills Chase – Minella Indo

Second in last year’s RSA Chase, Minella Indo has been magnificent this season. A best-priced 8/1 for the Gold Cup in March, a victory in the Savills Chase would be an almighty statement from Henry De Bromhead’s classy stayer.

He’s won both his starts this term in emphatic fashion, latterly a Grade 2 contest at Navan. He faces much sterner opposition in this, but the way he’s jumped and travelled this season has been a joy to watch.

If he does win this Grade 1 contest, with Presenting Percy and Delta Work both potentially in attendance, his price is likely to collapse for the Cheltenham showpiece. A big performance is expected and a bright star could shine in just a weeks time.
