Leopardstown on Sunday: Ireland’s hottest trainer, British raider and our best bet
Liam Bramall

Horse racing is in Liam's blood and his biggest passion is jumps racing. He can often be found at his favourite tracks; Chepstow and Cheltenham in the Autumn when the National Hunt action kicks off. In his own words: "I'm often referred to as a walking form book, a trait which comes in handy from time to time. My proudest tipping success to date was landing a whopping 682-1 accumulator at Epsom."
The best racing in Europe comes from France on Sunday but there’s still some quality action to look forward to at Leopardstown over in Ireland. One trainer with an eye-catching strike-rate in the last fortnight could be worth following across the card and there’s also a British raider to consider. We’ve also picked out our best bet on the card and the horse in question represents Joseph O’Brien. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
It won’t be long until Paddy Twomey becomes a household name, as his reputation grows with each passing season. Every single runner is planned meticulously and that strategy is paying dividends at the moment, with a strike-rate of 55 per cent in the last couple of weeks.
He sends four runners to Leopardstown on Sunday and the lightly raced City Of Memphis is one of his better chances. She finished fifth in the Irish 1000 Guineas last term and was far from disgraced. This race is easier and the furlong shorter trip should be to her liking.
Khafar runs in the opening race and the son of Dubawi would have a fair chance on the form of his debut second at Newbury in August. Catalina Delcarpio has her work cut out for her up against a proven Group 1 performer in the Listed Amethyst Stakes but is entitled to progress this term.
Excellent Believe was a very respectable second in a Haydock Group 3 last seen and he was unfortunate to bump into a progressive winner. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see him in the mix on that evidence and his last win came in handicap company over this trip.
Alcantor is a proven performer at the top level and is set to make his first start for Joseph O’Brien in this Listed contest. The son of New Bay was only beaten by half-a-length when third in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains as a three-year-old and this Group 3 winner should have no trouble here.
