A bog standard Class 6 handicap over 6f has been made all the more interesting with the fact a runner has been backed from 12/1 all the way into top price 9/4 at the time of writing this article.

Trained by Simon Hodgson, the horse in question is Twilight Madness and his last win came over this course and distance back in December 2023 off a mark of 76 running in 0-80 company.

It has been a long time between drinks for the 7yo son of Twilight Son, but he is now down to a very workable rating of just 59, a full 17lb lower than his last winning mark, and the weight of money behind him could suggest that today is his day.

Twilight Madness had excuses last time out at Wolverhampton as he doesn’t see out 7f, so the drop back to this trip should be right up his street. Drawn in stall six is absolutely fine too.

Another factor is the form of the yard. Hodgson doesn’t run many but his last two runners have won at odds of 20/1 and 3/1 and this is his sole runner of the day.
