With the channel switch around at the beginning of 2019, the issue of where to watch racing and for how much has been brought back into the limelight. From bookmaker websites to Terrestrial TV, there are plenty of ways to watch horse racing, and we’ve listed all those ways below. How can I watch horse racing through bookmakers?

Perhaps the most obvious way to watch the racing. Most bookmakers will allow you to watch the races you’ve bet on, as long as you meet their minimum bet criteria. For example, for most sites, if you were to bet £1 (or 50p E/W) on a selection, you’d be able to watch that race through their website. If you go to the horse racing section of a bookmakers website, they’ll usually have a way of showing which racing they are live streaming, so make sure to check this before betting. Each bookmaker will have different minimum bet conditions to be able to watch live, so checking this is crucial to avoid disappointment.

How can I watch horse racing on TV?

Horse racing is available to watch on terrestrial TV at least once a week, with ITV showing the big races on Saturday. For the larger meetings and Festivals, such as Cheltenham and Epsom, they’ll also show racing midweek. The two big racing channels in Great Britain and Ireland, RacingTV and Sky Sports Racing, also allow you to watch the racing on your TV.

For RacingTV, this will need to be enabled through their website and you’ll also need to have bought a subscription to the service. They cover plenty of courses (including international) and have recently picked up the Irish action too. They can be found through channels Sky 432 and Freeview 231.

The recently rebranded Sky Sports Racing also cover racing on a daily basis from plenty of tracks on channels Sky 415 and Virgin 535. For Sky customers, it may already be included in your package for no extra charge, though it’s best to check on their website to see where you stand in terms of their coverage.

Where can I watch horse racing online?

Both the aforementioned channels, RacingTV and Sky Sports Racing, also provide facilities to watch the racing on your computer, tablet or phone. To gain access, however, you’ll usually need to pay a subscription fee, so bare this in mind.

If all else fails, your local bookmaker is more than likely to be showing all the action from across the UK and Ireland. This obviously isn’t the most convenient choice as it requires travel more often than not, but you can stroll into your local bookmakers and not need to spend a penny to watch the action.
