IN SUMMARY: All six runners have appealing profiles in an interesting contest. Le Prezien probably sets the standard, having gone close at today’s Grade 2 level at Haydock in January, but slight preference is for LAKE VIEW LAD (11/2), who came to grief on his first two starts over hurdles but has impressed on both subsequent outings. Meet The Legend and Overtown Express also have plenty of potential.

1 Meet The Legend – Refused to settle and was a bit disappointing on hurdle/stable debut at Kempton on Boxing Day but displayed improvement to win at Newbury (2m, heavy) last month and has obvious potential to make further progress.

2 Lake View Lad – Fell on first two starts over hurdles but easily won Ayr maiden (2m4f, heavy) in January and followed-up under penalty at Wetherby (2m3f, heavy) last month; takes on stronger opposition here but already looks useful.

3 Le Prezien – Bumped into Yanworth on hurdle debut but won his next two starts in good style and was very creditable second in Grade 2 event at Haydock (2m, heavy) in January; obvious contender.

4 Overtown Express – Behind Le Prezien and looked beaten when falling at penultimate flight on rules debut in November but has bolted up twice on heavy ground this year (2m2f/2m), and it’s very hard to gauge the limit of his ability.

5 The Dutchman – Built on very promising hurdle debut when gaining hard-fought success at Wetherby (2m, heavy) in January; could easily have more to offer but some of the others look more exciting.

6 Vieux Lille – Made pleasing start to hurdling career when collecting two comfortable wins on heavy ground at Exeter (2m1f/2m2f); finished over 3l behind Le Prezien when third in Grade 2 event at Haydock (2m, heavy) last time and is no better off at the weights here, but still enters calculations.
