IN SUMMARY: Mazyoun was very unlucky on his latest start at Kempton and looks like a big danger if keeping himself out of trouble; preference though is for HUGIN. He won easily at Redcar two starts ago to continue his consistent profile and although he was beaten at 2/5 odds on his latest start, the winner had won a Listed race last summer and bounced back to form. He can now resume his progressive curve and gain a third career success, with conditions perfect for him.

1 MAZYOUN – Won three starts ago at Kempton with a strong late surge and he’s run better than the bare form figures suggest on his latest two starts. He was ninth on his latest start, but never had a clear run and had to be eased when still full of running. He remains on the same mark and in a much smaller field he should have plenty of room to operate, which makes him hugely dangerous with softer ground fine.

2 HUGIN – Three-year-old who has had only six runs, not running a bad race in any of those races for David Simcock whose yard is desperately out of form at present (0/30 in the past two weeks). He won two starts ago at Redcar when sticking on well for a two length success and he was far from disgraced to finish second on his latest start to a horse who had very good past form in the book. He’s on the same mark here and a similar run will see him tough to beat today.

3 FLASHY SNAPPER – Only win so far came in a maiden at Southwell on his second start and he’s been tricky to follow since in handicaps. He was unlucky on his latest start at Chelmsford but he had no excuses on his penultimate run when just not good enough to get involved. He remains on the same mark as his latest start and, although he has each way claims if getting a clear run, others look better propositions for win purposes.

4 MARATHA – Built on promise in maidens for Stuart Williams when winning on handicap debut at Nottingham in July, however his stable debut for this yard ended with him being eased at Newmarket last month. That is very off-putting and although he should be happier back down in trip, more is needed in a tougher race than what he’s faced previously. Truly soft ground is a question mark and others are preferred.

5 WHOSYOURHOUSEMATE – Another lightly raced three-year-old who won on his second start at Southwell on the all weather, running two fair races on the turf since in handicaps. He was beaten only two lengths on his latest start over further here, but he should be happier back down in distance and that gives him each way claims as he also handles the softer ground.

7 WORKING CLASS – Three-year-old for Peter Chapple-Hyam who is weighted to his best at present but he holds claims nonetheless. He won two starts ago in a maiden at Lingfield before finishing fifth at Newmarket on his latest start, well held in the end. A repeat of that performance would see him in with a shout of placing, especially as the softer ground will suit.
