4.15pm Salisbury Tips & Betting Preview 07/06/2016

IN SUMMARY: A few of these have quite interesting profiles but it’s hard to get away from BOMBILATE (5/2), who was second to a highly regarded rival in a good race on her handicap debut at Nottingham last month and ought to be able to cope with today’s 2lb higher mark. Perceived gave a very good account when runner-up on her latest outing and can also get involved here but Sightline, a soft-ground Beverley maiden winner in April, arguably has greater potential to progress, providing she is fully effective on faster ground. White Poppy enjoyed the run of the race when second on her handicap debut and probably needs today’s step up in trip to unlock some improvement. Natural Beauty posed no threat in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on her seasonal reappearance but is likely to be more competitive here and remains unexposed.

1 Miss Minuty – Gained convincing win at Bath (1m2f, firm) in October, her debut for Tony Newcombe, and was subsequently placed a couple of times on the AW for that yard; makes debut for another new stable after 113-day break but a promising 7lb claimer has been booked and she has a part to play if fully revved up.

2 Perceived – Slightly disappointing on seasonal debut in April but comes here after posting very good effort to finish second at Leicester (1m2f, good) last month; nudged up 1lb for that but now contests a race confined to her her own sex and can make her presence felt again.

3 White Poppy – Won her maiden at Wolverhampton (8.6f, AW) on seasonal reappearance in April and subsequently finished second here (1m, good to firm) on her handicap debut; could easily have more to offer now upped to 1m2f but she was allowed to dictate her latest race from the front and is now 2lb higher.

4 Justice Lass – Made pleasing seasonal debut when third over 7f here last month; subsequent Doncaster run was very disappointing and she now has a point to prove but her pedigree offers significant hope she’ll be suited by today’s marked step up in trip.

5 Bombilate – Cost $350.000 as a yearling and, having won a Wolverhampton maiden (8.6f, AW) in April, finished second in what looked a warm fillies’ handicap at Nottingham (1m2f, good to firm) last month; 2lb higher here but is open to further progress and needs to be taken very seriously.

6 Sightline – Delivered on promise shown on 2yo debut when game winner of Beverley maiden (1m2f, soft) in April; now needs to prove she’s fully effective on a sound surface but her opening handicap mark looks reasonable and she has obvious potential to improve again; respected.

7 Natural Beauty – Struggled in the Lingfield Oaks Trial on seasonal debut in May but it’s interesting that John Gosden deemed her worthy of a place in that line-up she has her sights lowered on today’s handicap debut remains unexposed and no surprise is she figures.

8 Sunscape – Ended three-race 2yo season with AW maiden win at Chelmsford (1m); behind Bombilate when fourth of six on seasonal/handicap debut at Nottingham (1m2f, good to firm) but that still goes down as a decent effort and she probably won’t be far away.

9 Loveisreckless – Well beaten over 6f on sole 2yo start but, with blinkers added, has shown promise in two 8.6f Wolverhampton maidens this spring; almost certainly needs to improve to strike on handicap debut but that’s certainly not out of the question if new trips suits.
