4.10pm Doncaster Tips & Betting Preview 07/09/2016

Our experts’ betting tips for the 3yo handicap over 7f at Doncaster on Wednesday centre on a gelding with a point to prove. Read the horse-by-horse race preview for the full lowdown.

IN SUMMARY: SHANGHAI GLORY needs to bounce back from a poor run here last month but he clearly wasn’t himself on that occasion and his trainer felt the ground was too lively. He remains unexposed over 7f and is worth chancing at the odds on offer. Roll On Rory is raised in class today but was quite impressive when upped to 7f for his latest start and can’t be opposed with huge confidence. Stamp Hill wasn’t at his best when last in action and is another with some potential to make progress over this trip.

1 Shanghai Glory – Has a point to prove after running poorly over C&D last month but his trainer reported he was unsuited be the fast ground; previously won twice over 6f in June and could still have untapped potential over today’s trip.

2 Stamp Hill – Has gained both his wins over 6f but was a very creditable second over 7f at Epsom (good to soft) on Oaks day; never really got involved at Glorious Goodwood last time but didn’t enjoy the run of the race there and is not yet fully exposed.

3 War Glory – Delivered on debut promise when winning Wolverhampton maiden (7f, AW) in January and, following a break, has run with credit in both handicaps this summer, winning at Chelmsford (1m, AW) before finishing second at Chester (7.6f, good); can make his presence felt again.

4 Dream Mover – Gave very good account when short-head second at Newmarket (7f, good) in July but was unable to build on that performance when soundly beaten over 1m at York last month; might be happier back at 7f but others make more appeal.

5 Take The Helm – Short of room in the closing stages when very respectable third at Newmarket (7f, good) on latest outing in July; can’t be ruled out off the same mark here but his very best form has been recorded on Polytrack.

6 Battlement – Non-runner

7 Roll On Rory – Campaigned mainly over sprint trips but was evidently suited by the step up to 7f when scoring at Newmarket (7f, good to firm) last month, his third win of the season; 6lb higher in a stronger race here but still needs to be taken very seriously.
