3.50pm Beverley Tips & Betting Preview 11/08/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a long distance race at Beverley. See our betting tips below to uncover the value in a race where every horse could well have a say in the finish.

IN SUMMARY: A trappy contest in which all of these have some sort of chance. Full Day and Bulas Belle finished one and two at York in July and have probably the most convincing claims, but maybe its time for GABRIAL’S STAR to get back to winning ways. Although he would probably prefer a bit softer ground, he’s ran well on firmer ground in the past and his best form puts him with a huge shout. He’s on a very tempting mark and a big run could well be about to come.

1 GABRIAL’S STAR – Although all 3 wins have come on soft, he’s done himself no disservice on firmer ground and his best form puts him right into the frame. Although disappointing latest at Ayr (13f, Soft), that trip was probably inadequate and with the mark he is currently on, it may well be his time to bounce back into the winners enclosure. It’s also interesting to note he beat Full Day at Beverley on his penultimate start and now meets him on more favourable terms.

2 BULAS BELLE – Has been running well of late, most recently when finishing runner up to Full Day at York (16.5f, Good to Firm). That was a good effort bouncing back from a poor one at Pontefract the time before (18f, Good to Firm), although possible excuses can be drawn from that run. Current mark isn’t out of range and a good run can be expected, but his form can be erratic.

3 SISYPHUS – Poor effort latest in a grade that was way too difficult at Ascot (16f, Good to Firm). Drops back into a more suitable grade in which he finished 2nd in at Musselburgh on penultimate start (14f, Good). Lightly raced and could have more improvement in him but its needed off of his current mark.

4 AIR SQUADRON – Running okay of late if not spectacularly, latest when finishing 4th at Newbury over a longer trip (18f, Good to Firm). Those races however were in higher grades, and he now drops down 2 classes. He’s very dangerous to ignore has he could well be winding up to a huge run, so has to be considered a danger.

5 FULL DAY – Completely out of his depth when being swept aside in a Class 1 at Newmarket latest (12f, Good). However he did win in a class above at York on his penultimate start (16.5f, Good to Firm) and that effort puts him right in the frame for this. Form before that run was very in and out which rings alarm bells but can’t be discounted after that win at York.

6 MEDINA SIDONIA – Has been running respectably of late, latest when 2nd of this mark at Cartmel (17f, Good). Not sure how much that form amounts too but this mark isn’t beyond him and with a top claimer on board (Rachel Richardson) he may well be able to eek out more. Upped in Grade since last run and needs to show he’s improved.
