1.30pm Nottingham tips for Wednesday’s Class 4 race. An interesting field for this mile handicap, a number of progressive three-year-olds in opposition in a solid looking contest. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.

IN SUMMARY: MARATHA has already run three big races over this course and distance in 2017. The handicapper dropped him 1lb for his latest placed effort here and being an unexposed sort  he could be tough to beat under top pilot James Doyle. Monaadhil still looked green when runner-up at Yarmouth earlier in the month, he should be able to make the frame once more as he learns his craft.

1 INSTANT ATTRACTION – Slipped seventeen pounds this season without really looking like cashing in. Trip and ground are fine for him, with this just his second run at Class 4 level since May 2015. May bounce back but is a risky proposition at present.

2 MAGIC CITY – Veteran has enjoyed a resurgence in 2017, winning off this mark at Ripon in June. Soft ground is no problem for him but didn’t run well over ten furlongs here earlier in the month. The return to this trip should produce better at this level.

3 MARATHA – Three smart runs over this course and distance already this season, making up for lost time having missed the whole of 2016. Dropped a pound for finishing third here earlier in the month, he is open to further improvement and looks one of the likelier ones this afternoon.

4 ZESHOV – A smidge disappointing last time at Yarmouth in a Class 5 contest given how well he had run in a Class 2 the time before. Capable of making the frame from this sort of mark once more but looks a shade high to score.

6 PURE ACTION – Belatedly off the mark at the tenth time of asking, dropped to claiming grade last time on his first run since being gelded. A soft surface suits, needs respect as an Irish raider though clearly not the most straightforward.

7 ROSARNO – Won over this course and distance under similar conditions earlier this month. That was only a Class 5 contest so this is going to require a bit more again, but a two pound rise is more than fair.

8 MONAADHIL – Just the two career starts, green under pressure when only runner-up at Yarmouth last time. He was friendless in the market there, shaping as if he would come on for the experience. That was his first run since June so entitled to do better, looks a big player.

9 MAMDOOD – Sole win has come on the Polytrack so far. That was over seven furlongs as were his two best runs on turf so this trip poses a question. His runs at this trip haven’t been as good so needs a step forward to figure.

10 OFF ART – Won the ‘Legends’ race at the St Leger meeting on soft ground, just a pound higher now. That was his first win for more than four years, behind Zeshov last time out at Redcar so needs to up his game once more at this level.

11 WASM – Made the perfect start for this yard landing a Doncaster maiden. Only form since when runner-up over nine furlongs at Ayr. He shaped there as if needing further so this drop back in trip isn’t certain to suit.

Non Runners:

5 FINALE – Enjoying a solid campaign, a winner here on soft ground in June. She has performed admirably since on ground probably a little quick so the return to cut can see her resume her progression. Strong chance in this.
