Shrewsbury v Bury

Despite going well in 6th position, Bury have shown a tendency to concede of late and up against a Shrewsbury side who haven’t found goals hard to come by, especially at home, the visitors may struggle to keep a clean sheet once more. Given their form so far this season and considering the fact they’ve scored in each of their last five away games you’d have to fancy the visitors to score in this one. Meanwhile Shrewsbury, having scored nine goals in their last five away games, should be capable of scoring themselves.

Peterborough v Doncaster

If you need to score goals in League One, there’s been no better place to do so this season than London Road which has seen Peterborough concede no less than 15 goals in their first seven home games! Having conceded 11 in their last five games in front of a home crowd it’s fair to say that Peterborough are somewhat below par defensively. Doncaster, who do need to score more goals, come into this off the back of an encouraging mid-week victory away to Shrewsbury and aren’t likely to get many better opportunities to increase their goal tally. The home side, as well as having a knack for conceding goals, are also pretty good at scoring them (14 goals at home this season) and against a Doncaster side who aren’t great at the back themselves, they too are expected to score.

Gillingham v Southend

League Leaders, Gillingham have been in fine form in the first few months of the season, especially when playing at home; however, having conceded in each of their last five games at Priestfield, they are far from infallible. Southend on the other hand have started the season reasonably well and are currently 8th in the table. Their form on the road has seen three wins and two losses from their last five, scoring seven goals and conceding five. You’d certainly expect Gillingham to dictate proceedings here and it would be surprise if they didn’t score at least once. At the same time though if Southend get their tactics right they could find themselves plenty of space on the counter. It would therefore be anything but a surprise if the Gills failed to keep a clean sheet for the 6th home game running.

Wolves v Middlesbrough

Both of these sides are likely to be determined to get back on track in this fixture having suffered defeat on Tuesday evening. Before their defeat to Brentford in mid-week, Wolves, having won three and drawn one, had put together a decent run of results in front of a home crowd. Middlesbrough on the other hand – despite failing to win or score a single goal in their last three games – have enjoyed a decent season so far and sit 6th in the table. The visitors have shown in the first 14 games that they are a good side, one capable of scoring goals and it really be a surprise if they were to go a fourth game in a row without scoring. Likewise, Wolves have scored seven goals in their last five home games and will fancy their chances of scoring against a visiting team who have been out of sorts lately.

Accrington v Dagenham

If you’re looking for two teams who have both scored goals and conceded with regularity, look no further than Accrington and Dagenham. In each of their last five games at home Accrington have managed to both score and concede, totalling no fewer than 11 goals for and 12 goals against. Meanwhile Dagenham have managed to score and concede in each of their last five away games, scoring eight and conceding ten. Accrington will be expected to score at home and rightly so; however, even against lowly Dagenham it is hard to see them keeping a clean sheet given their defensive displays of late. Naturally this one will finish 0-0! But in all honesty the only thing that should prevent BTTS here is damn right bad luck!
