Tips for Uttoxeter Races
Built in 1907, Uttoxeter Racecourse is the only track in Staffordshire and stages jump racing. History was made in 2002 when Sir Anthony McCoy became the winning-most National Hunt jockey of all time when he won aboard Mighty Montelfaco, marking his 1,700th victory.
Course: It’s a sharp 1 mile 3 furlong left-handed circuit with a few undulations, but it’s a fair track suiting many horses. The fences can prove quite demanding though so we need our tips to be sound in the jumping department at this venue.
Feature Race: The Midlands Grand National is the feature race at Uttoxeter, worth £70,000 to the winner. Run in March over 4 miles 2 furlongs, conditions can be very tough making it an extreme test of stamina. Our tips for this race will be thorough stayers that relish a true test.
