With L’Homme Presse out, Adrian Wall has his sights set on 14-1 Gold Cup tip

Might Bite and Native River in the 2018 Cheltenham Gold Cup

L’Homme Presse would have probably went off second favourite for the Gold Cup but now that he is going to miss out on the big race in March, the race has really cut up.

Galopin Des Champs is the clear market leader but looks far too short for a race of this nature this far out. He also had a nasty tumble at the Festival last season so can he be trusted to jump round unscathed?

Adrian Wall thinks that there is serious each-way value to be had in the race and there is a horse lurking at around 14-1 that he really fancies to finish in the first three, at the very least.

Davy is back for a reason

Jack Kennedy is on the sidelines with a broken leg and the man who had retired just three weeks ago, Davy Russell, has come out of retirement to “help the team at Cullentra House”. Make no bones about it, Russell came back to help himself first and foremost. He is going to pick up some massive rides, not only at Cheltenham but also at the Dublin Racing Festival in a couple of weeks’ time.

I have pondered at his reasoning for coming back and I can’t get the Gold Cup out of my head. Does he think Conflated has an outstanding chance in the Gold Cup? It could explain his return. Conflated is an Irish Gold Cup winner and a Savills Chase winner so he certainly needs nom introduction. He is a proper Grade 1 animal.

He was devastating over Christmas in the Savills and looks overpriced for the Gold Cup in a few week’s time when you factor in a horse like Noble Yeats is currently half his price!
