Willie Mullins sends one horse on the 746-mile round trip to Warwick on Thursday

British and Irish champion jumps’ trainer Willie Mullins will send one runner across to Warwick Racecourse in the West-Midlands of England on Thursday, and that surely could be a tip in itself as he has targeted Britain massively in recent months. In total, the return journey is 746 miles and he isn’t going there to make up the numbers! Make sure you check out our free horse racing tips on the website!

A standard 2m3f maiden hurdle at Warwick has been made much more interesting thanks to the participation of the Mullins runner, Onlyamatteroftime, who will be partnered by Patrick Mullins who has an incredible strike-rate recently.

The eight-year-old son of Getaway would be one of the yard’s lesser lights but Willie has found a golden opportunity for him to gain his first win for the yard. Behind Marine Nationale in a Punchestown maiden hurdle in 2022, he got off the mark in a bumper at the same venue when trained by Niall Madden.

Sent off favourite for the Greatwood Hurdle at Cheltenham in November and then a valuable handicap hurdle at Ascot before running a poor race in the Betfair Hurdle, it’s hard to envisage he’s now running in a weak maiden hurdle.

Onlyamatteroftime is clearly a quirky sort who has failed to live up to his true potential, but he was a solid second when last seen at Ballinrobe last month. This is last chance saloon for this horse really as it’s hard to know what to do with him if he can’t win in this sphere but he should be good enough.
