William Haggas to have his second ever runner at Fairyhouse on Wednesday

Newmarket-based trainer William Haggas is one of the best in the business and he has trained many excellent horses over the years. He has had 75 runners in Ireland during his career and the majority of those were at the Curragh. Only one of those runners lined up at Fairyhouse but that is set to change, as he’s sending one over for their feature race on Wednesday. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

6.00 Fairyhouse

Santorini Star only made her debut in October and she finished second behind subsequent Listed winner Shaha in a Southwell novice. She was a little fractious before the start at Kempton next time but that didn’t prevent the shedding of her maiden tag. Beating three rivals that day, the next two horses home have both won since, albeit at a lower level.

Haggas’ filly began the season with cosy success over 1m2f in handicap company at Brighton and she hit the line well. A 6lb rise didn’t prevent the follow up when upped to 1m4f at Goodwood after that and she had plenty in hand that day.

Connections targeted Listed success at Pontefract last month and she was well supported, going off the 5/4 favourite. The daughter of Golden Horn was a disappointing in the end and faded into fifth. That form suggests she has a lot to find in order to be competitive here and the extra two furlongs need to make a significant difference.

Goodie Two Shoes heads the market, and rightfully so. Joseph O’Brien’s six-year-old comes here off the back of successive Listed wins and looks like the one to beat.
