Top amateur jockey and incredible horseman Jamie Codd is not afraid to voice an opinion, and more times than not he is right. He has come out to tell us who his horse to follow this season is so make sure you write this name down on your notebook!
Jamie Codd’s horse to follow this season is the French bred Imagine, trained by Gordon Elliott. Codd quoted: “Imagine won a Bumper at Punchestown last year for Andrew and Gemma Brown; it was actually the same race Mighty Potter won the season earlier. He’s a horse I really like now; he’s strengthened up well over the summer and I’m looking forward to him this season.
“He basically won on the bridle at Punchestown back in February and we feel he is going to be a graded horse this season. Whether he starts off in a bumper or goes straight hurdling, I don’t know, but I like him and he has done loads and loads of schooling; he’s a very neat jumper. He’s got a great mind; loves his work and is a very easy horse to deal with. I actually broke him in and did his pre-training and he just took to everything straight away; he’s very easy to deal with.”
Imagine is currently best priced 33-1 for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and is a similar price for the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle. Jamie Codd knows the Elliott yard inside out so when he speaks, you listen. Codd put up American Mike as his horse to follow last year and although that was close but no cigar, he could make amends this year.
