We are just four days away from what will be a fantastic weekend of flat action as the Irish Champions Festival will get underway on Saturday, September the 8th. The two day event will be hosted by two tracks, Leopardstown and the Curragh, and we will have no shortage of top class action to look forward to. Adrian Wall has gone through one of the festival features, the Irish St Leger, and has picked out what horse he feels will win the race. Let’s take a look at it now.
Jockey bookings could tell a lot of the story if both Emily Dickinson and Kyprios take their chance in what is shaping up to be a good renewal of the race. Ryan Moore will have first pick and does he got for the horse who is fit and in good form or does he go with the superstar who has been off the track for quite some time?
It could be a tough call for Moore but either way, Emily Dickinson has to have a favourite’s chance in my eyes. She certainly stays well, evident by her fourth in the Ascot Gold Cup and she went on to win a Group 2 over 1m6f after that. She arrives here off the back of a good second to runaway winner Quickthorn in the Goodwood Cup and has to be respected in this.
Hamish and Eldar Eldarov are another pair who warrant plenty of respect but this daughter of Dubawi might finally get that long awaited Group 1 to her name this weekend. Best of luck if you have a bet.
