The racing this week is a little on the low-key side, with Royal Ascot just around the corner, but we still have five competitive fixtures to look forward to on Wednesday. Hugo Palmer looks like the trainer to follow at Hamilton, based on the fact that he has a 75 per cent strike-rate at the Scottish track so far this season. Three of his four previous runners have come out on top and he sends just one runner up from his Cheshire base on Wednesday.
Condotti has been a little out of form for a while now and the four-year-old was well beaten at Carlisle on seasonal debut. Yet to get his head in front, he now looks very well treated on the form of his narrow third off a 10lb higher mark at Ffos Las last summer and a big run isn’t out of the question.
Hamilton is a long way to go from Ollie Sangster’s Wiltshire yard and he sends a runner on the 750-mile round trip for first time ever on Wednesday. It’s a long way to go for just one runner and connections won’t want to come home empty-handed.
Sea Palace was a 120,000 guineas purchase and is related five winners. His dam was a Listed winner over 5f during her career and you would imagine he will be forward enough to run a big race here. The expensive Royal Heritage looks like the biggest danger and is also making his debut.
Royal Ascot takes place next week so the weekend’s action isn’t as strong as usual. There is a decent Listed contest at Sandown however, so we’ve picked out an ante-post tip for it.
Lady Youmzain absolutely bolted up when winning a Beverley novice on debut by five lengths last term and she followed up in a Pontefract novice in April. She got tired in the closing stages in Listed company over 6f at Haydock last time out and the drop back down to 5f could well suit.
