Wednesday racing: Hannon 780-mile Musselburgh raid and a Nicholls newcomer to watch

It’s a 780-mile round trip to Musselburgh from Richard Hannon’s Wiltshire yard and he sends three runners up to the Scottish track on Wednesday. Paul Nicholls has been very complimentary about his representative in Chepstow‘s bumper and he has a good record with bumper newcomers there. Richard Hannon’s three-pronged Musselburgh raid

Richard Hannon has already landed a couple of winners at Musselburgh this season and he sends another three up to the track for their fixture on Wednesday.

Sequoiadendron was slow to get going on debut at Kempton last time out but she stuck to her task well and kept on to finish third in the end. The daughter of Golden Pal is entitled to improve for the run and a faster start could lead to the shedding of her maiden tag this time around.

Ablon remains lightly raced and she was an impressive winner over 1m3f at Kempton when last seen and a 5lb rise could prove to be generous. It’s interesting that connections have decided to drop her back to a mile off the back of that performance but she did finish second over this trip in maiden company.

Witch Hunter landed a better race than this at Thirsk in August, with that victory coming off a 4lb higher mark, but he has struggled badly in five starts since. It seems to be only a matter of time until he returns to form and the seven-year-old’s current mark makes him an attractive proposition.

Nicholls’ newcomer at Chepstow

Paul Nicholls has a good recent record with bumper newcomers at Chepstow and he will be represented by Don’t Panic. The team at home are confident that he’s shown a fair amount of ability on the gallops and. The son of Nathaniel has a fair pedigree and it would be no surprise to see him win here.
