We landed a 12/1 winner when Matata won the big race at Cheltenham on New Years’ Day and there are another seven ITV races coming up on Saturday. This is a good opportunity to follow up with some more outsiders to follow and Saturday’s picks are 16/1, 16/1 and 14/1. The market isn’t always right and these horse might have slipped under the radar. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Top weight Teorie (16/1, bet365) has won twice over hurdles for previous connections and the first of those was an impressive 15-length victory in a juvenile hurdle at Catterick in December 2023. He then went on to score under a penalty in a Stratford novice. Daisy Hitchins’ gelding was a head away from winning a handicap off a 1lb lower mark at Exeter in March and isn’t without a chance here.
George Henry (16/1, Boylesports) has struggled on the whole so far but the penny will surely drop at some point. Paul Nicholls’ seven-year-old remains lightly raced over hurdles, especially in handicaps, and he showed some promise when third over course and distance in March. Something was amiss at Lingfield first time out and we should see an improved performance this time around.
Blackjack Magic (18/1, bet365) was a very smart staying handicap chaser a couple of seasons ago and whilst he’s been badly out of form for a while, the handicapper is beginning to respond. Now back down to 132, he won the 2023 Badger Beer Chase off this mark and was a respectable fourth off 6lb higher at Ascot after that. Anthony Honeyball’s runner shouldn’t be dismissed too easily.
