6:50 Wolverhampton – Chookie Dunedin – 1pt @ 10/1
Recent handicap winners usually don’t appeal to me that much but CHOOKIE DUNEDIN is only a couple of pounds higher than his 7f win here in October and shaped as if still in form when fifth behind a well-in rival on his sole run since. I still think the nature of 6f races suit him better and given that he obviously likes the tapeta surface at this track, it’s worth noting that this will be his first run over C&D. There’s still scope in his mark also, as he’s 9lbs below last December’s Chelmsford victory, and with no overly progressive types in opposition he could take advantage. 10/1 is a fair price in my book – hopefully the horse can show why!
7:50 Wolverhampton – Dream Magic – 1pt @ 5/1
DREAM MAGIC recently returned from a 107 day break and with no striking form when fresh, it’s possible he could come on for it. He did shape well, ridden with more restraint than usual by an inexperienced apprentice and not getting the clearest of runs in the straight. Today, the return of Richard Kingscote in the saddle is a huge positive to his chances and he also drops down into Class 6 company in a handicap for the first time since he won at Lingfield in April. Stall 10 is a minor negative but in what is a weak race, he should be heavily involved for a yard who are going along quite nicely; 5-27 since the start of November.
