‘Underestimate him at your peril’ – 20-1 ante-post tip for Saturday’s King George 👑

The King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes takes place at Ascot on Saturday and it’s shaping up to be a race to savour. One of the most exciting races on the calendar, the best three-year-olds take on the best older horses over 1m4f. A mouth-watering clash is almost guaranteed this year, with the likes of Auguste Rodin taking on Emily Upjohn and we can’t wait.

We’ve picked one out a bigger price which may have been unfairly overlooked so far and could perform much better than his odds suggest. Already a classic winner, there are more Group 1 prizes to be won with him. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.40 Ascot (Saturday)

Westover (20-1, bet365) is a very talented horse in his own right and very much deserves his place in this star-studded field. Ralph Beckett’s four-year-old was a runaway winner of the Irish Derby last year, scoring by an impressive seven lengths. It’s noted that he underperformed badly in this race last year but he’s a bigger and stronger horse this time around.

He got back to winning ways in Group 1 company at Saint-Cloud earlier this month and found plenty when Rob Hornby pressed the button. Further improvement will be needed, on the evidence of his second to Emily Upjohn at Epsom in June, but there could well be more to come. The price difference between the two doesn’t reflect the Coronation Cup form and you underestimate Westover at your peril.

On his best form, Westover is right up there with the best of these and shouldn’t be so easily overlooked. If the current going description of good to soft is maintained, the conditions will be ideal for Beckett’s charge and a huge run could be in the offing.
