Two Newmarket trainers send one each on the 768-mile round trip to Hamilton 🚛

There has been plenty of racing this week, so you would think that it wouldn’t be necessary for Newmarket trainers to send horses all the way up to Scotland. James Fanshawe, George Boughey and George Scott are set to send four runners up to Hamilton on Friday. Rather interestingly, Fanshawe and Boughey only have one entry apiece. Newmarket to Hamilton is a 768-mile round trip and connections won’t want to return home empty-handed. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Muqtahem is an unraced two-year-old and there’s plenty of evidence in his pedigree to suggest he’s up to winning a race of this stature. His dam was a winner over 7f and his grand dam won at Listed level. Costing £60,000 at the sales last month, connections will be looking for an immediate return on their investment. George Boughey had a 57 per cent strike-rate at Hamilton last season, with four winners from his seven runners and this is his first runner of the current campaign.

Wandering Rocks is still fairly lightly raced for his age and his sole win came in a novice event at Doncaster in July. His run in a Newbury handicap over 1m4f two starts later is arguably his strongest piece of form, finishing third off a mark of 90. Running well for a long way on seasonal debut at Kempton last time out, his finishing effort suggested he needed the run. The handicapper is beginning to relent and has since dropped him 2lb for that effort. A return to the winners’ enclosure could be on the cards.
