Tuesday’s racing: trainer to follow at Catterick and a jockey/trainer combo worth noting

Adrian Wall highlights some interesting facts and stats for Tuesday’s horse racing, including a trainer worth following at Catterick.

Saeed Bin Suroor newcomer worth watching in the betting

The yard haven’t run too many this season but Saeed Bin Suroor’s Stormy Winter is certainly worth watching in the 7f novice stakes at Catterick (2.15). Bin Suroor is operating at a brilliant 28 per cent return this year with a level stakes profit of over £20 to £1 stakes, and he is one winner from three at the track in the last five seasons. He doesn’t come here often, obviously.

Stormy Winter is a son of Dark Angel and his dam was a French 11.5f/1m4f winner (RPR 74), sister to US 2m Grade 2 winner Siskany, out of an unraced half-sister to 1m4f/1m6f Group 2 winner Dartmouth. The pedigree is certainly there on his debut and it would be no surprise to see him strong in the betting.

Huge winning gamble bids to follow up at Catterick

Jennie Candlish’s Iconic Times reportedly took £50,000 out of the ring at Wolverhampton on Thursday and will bid to follow up in a very winnable 0-50 classified contest (2.45) over 7f. The gelding won very snugly when winning at the fifth attempt for this stable after a massive market gamble and if he can translate that form to turf, he should win.

Trainer looking to enhance sprint record

Tim Easterby has landed the 6f handicap (3.45) twice in the last three years and he has strong credentials again with Barmyblade. The C&D winner has won two of his last three outings including around here and although rising in the weights, he should go close again.

Trainer/jockey combination to watch

Oisin Murphy and Rod Millman are 8-13 when paired together this year and their sole representative is Safari Dream in the 2.30 Ffos Las. He is down in grade and should take some stopping.
