Adrian Wall goes through all the interesting facts and stats for Tuesday’s racing, including two big chances for James Doyle at Nottingham.
An under the radar jockey might be worth watching at Carlisle on Tuesday. Mark Winn has ridden five winners from 14 rides at the track this year, a brilliant 36 per cent return with a level stakes profit of 15.50 to £1 stakes.
He has two rides on the day, firstly Sixtygeesbaby in the 6f handicap (4.15). This horse won twice for Tom Clover and has a big chance judged on his fifth of 19 at York last month. Despite running poorly at Nottingham since, he comes here with a real live chance.
Winn’s other ride comes in the 7f handicap (5.15) aboard Michael Dods’ runner Leelawadee. This filly ran a great race on handicap debut when second at Thirsk last month and she can only keep on improving. She must have a big say in proceedings.
Irish trainer Andrew Kinirons had a lovely winner at Ayr on Saturday thanks to Patrick Street, while his only other runner on the night was Ukiyo who ran a creditable race in fourth! They both line up again at Hamilton and have to be respected highly.
On a summer’s day of racing at Nottingham, only 32 runners are set to go to post for the entire card. Surely this can’t be promising for racing which is already facing enough battles at present? The opening handicap is actually quite fascinating with a pair of fairly talented runners locking horns, but there isn’t a whole lot to get too excited about.
James Doyle has ridden 20 winners from 71 rides at the track in the last five years so his two mounts have to be of interest. The very expensive purchase Apulia Bay faces only one rival in the opener while another expensive yearling in Jeyoush makes his debut in the following 6f novice.
