Harrington goes for hat-trick in Gowran handicap

A winner of the 1m handicap (5.00) on this Gowran card for the last two years running, Jessica Harrington will be hopeful that she can bring up the hat-trick with the JP McManus-owned Goofy Gander. The Magna Grecia filly showed that she retains ability in a trio of maidens as a juvenile and built on her reappearance run when an eyecatching sixth of 15 in a 1m handicap at Limerick when last seen. Irish handler targets Wolverhampton once again

John McConnell is ticking over very nicely and will send two runners across to Wolverhampton. The first of those is She’s A Gift in the 5f handicap (7.30) under Rossa Ryan, who is winless for a long time but she was runner-up over C&D on her latest outing and although raised 3lb for that, the application of a tongue-tie may bring out the required improvement.

McConnell’s final runner of the night is Phil’s Dream in the following 6f handicap (8.00), and this time will be partnered by Clifford Lee. The 6yo son of Mehmas won a classified contest over C&D in March and although he has struggled in turf handicaps at Naas since, he is a much better horse on this surface so a bounce back is possible.

Top-class chaser makes Flat debut at Gowran

Joseph O’Brien’s former King George winner Banbridge will make his Flat debut at Gowran on Tuesday in the closing 1m6f maiden. He was last seen unseating in the Grand National at Aintree but certainly has the class here if he is ready to roll. It must be noted that Gordon Elliott’s Western Fold, who also has top-class form in the book, makes his Flat debut also.
