Tuesday racing: Follow Dods at Redcar, Irish raider at Uttoxeter & Skelton one to watch

Dods the trainer to follow in Redcar closer

Michael Dods has landed the closing 5f handicap at Redcar (4.54) twice in the last three years, but which of his three runners will do the business in 2026? Perhaps the best equipped of the trio of runners is Golden Havana, who has the dream draw in gate two. He won on his final run of last year at Newcastle in December and arrives here in good form, following five placed finishes when fifth at Musselburgh last time. He looks sure to make a bold fist of things again!

Don’t discount Dods’ other two runners too! Midnight Lir is on a long losing run but might be sparked into form with the application of cheekpieces for the first time, while Zuffalo on form has a big chance but will have to overcome a high draw.

Irish trainer raids Uttoxeter

Anthony McCann will send two runners to Uttoxeter on Tuesday and the first of them is Martymill in the 2m4f maiden hurdle (2.30). The 5yo has plenty of stamina and finally got off the mark in bumpers at the sixth attempt at Downpatrick when last seen. If he can translate that form to hurdles, he is a live player here.

McCann’s other runner is Rockstown Girl in the 2m4f handicap hurdle (3.30). She last won over hurdles at Down Royal in March and has been in good form over both fences and hurdles without winning since. She should go well.

Watch out for Skelton market mover

Time Interval (4.30 Uttoxeter) will make his debut for the Skeltons after having wind surgery. He landed back-to-back victories at Stratford and Warwick last summer and is very nicely treated if he is near his best.
