Statistics don’t provide any guarantees but they can be useful pointers to consider. Trainer Richard Hobson and jockey Oscar Palmer are both 2/2 at Doncaster this season and they head to the Yorkshire track for one runner and one ride apiece on Friday. With assessed the chances of both horses and combined them into a double. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Kalhandrion (6/4, bet365) failed to make the frame in seven starts over hurdles but the switch to fences has made a huge difference. Richard Hobson’s six-year-old won his first chase start at Huntingdon back in November.
Jumping pretty well on the day, he kept on well to score by just shy of three lengths. He stuck to his task well when third at Uttoxeter after that but got outsprinted on the run-in. The step up to three miles could facilitate some improvement and further progress over fences can’t be ruled out.
Romeo Brown (5/1, bet365) is in cracking form at the moment and will be attempting to complete a course and distance hat-trick here. Conditional jockey Oscar Palmer claims 7lb and he has been on board for both victories and the pair are unbeaten together.
Making all the running on his penultimate start, Palmer gave the 12-year-old an aggressive ride and the tactics paid off. It was never really a race and he went on to bolt up by 27 lengths.
Joel Parkinson & Sue Smith’s gelding scored again next time, but by a much shorter distance. The handicapper has only put him up 4lb so there’s every chance he can go close once again.
