Susan Corbett’s profit to a £1 level stake when having one runner at a Flat meeting is a whopping £72.49 and she will run Freddie Steady Go in the 1m2f handicap at Haydock (5.00) on Thursday. This bumper winner caused a massive shock on his third Flat outing when winning a 7f novice at Carlisle in May at huge odds of 150/1. He was beaten less than three lengths when midfield in a competitive 1m1f in York handicap and is entitled to go well here again.
The Group 3 Dick Poole Fillies’ Stakes over 6f at Salisbury (4.14) is a competitive renewal but Richard Hannon has won the race three times since 2017 and has a live chance again this year with Dark Issue. The Group 1-entered filly won at Goodwood on debut before a creditable fourth of 25 in the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot in June. She was well below her best at Ascot when last seen but if that run can be forgiven, she comes here with a very big chance indeed.
Power Of Knowledge should make find the winner’s circle for Willie Mullins on his second career start in the opening 2m maiden hurdle. Despite going off favourite on debut at Galway, he drifted a fair bit before a respectable fifth behind Teofil in the bumper but he could be a different proposition now on hurdles debut.
In the other division of that maiden hurdle, Goeasyonme has strong claims for John Ryan. He was a Montmartre huge price when second in a maiden hurdle at Roscommon and should take a lot of beating now.
