We have a competitive meeting to look forward to at Hamilton on Monday and it has attracted the attention of some top southern trainers. Newmarket and Lambourn-based handlers are sending several interesting horses up so we’re going to take a close look at their chances. It’ll be an expensive journey for each of them and they won’t want to come back home empty-handed. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
James Park Woods arrives in excellent form, having won his last two starts, and you wouldn’t want to rule out the hat-trick. The nine-year-old coped well with soft ground when winning at Brighton last time out and a 4lb penalty is unlikely to be an insurmountable obstacle to victory. It might take a career-best effort to follow up here but he’s entitled to run another big race.
Passing Thought struggled badly on debut at Windsor in July and clearly needed the experience. We saw a completely different filly at Goodwood last time out and she only just failed to get up, eventually finishing second by a head. The stiffer finish here could be to her advantage on that evidence and she looks like the one to beat.
Twilight Safari remains thoroughly unexposed in handicap company and looks more than capable of winning races. His pedigree suggests that the step up in trip will suit and he was a good second in a Pontefract maiden in July. Finishing fourth on handicap debut at Windsor when last seen, the handicapper has dropped him 1lb since and further progress could be on the cards.
