Three runners which are significantly ahead of the handicapper on Friday 🐎

Horse racing is hugely competitive so it’s important to consider every advantage available to you. With this in mind, we’ve picked out the three runners on Friday who are most ahead of the handicapper. This is often a massive advantage, for obvious reasons, and connections will want to make the most of it.

It would appear that they have loads in hand and two of the horses in question run at Thirsk in the afternoon and one goes to Haydock in the evening. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.40 Thirsk

Storm Fox

Amount in hand: 5lb

Tim Easterby’s charge is due to go up to a mark of 66 but races of 61 here and that could make a huge difference. He showed massive improvement to finish second at Redcar last time out, which is why he’s due to go up in the weights. Racing here off an unchanged mark however, he has a huge chance of going one better.

3.40 Thirsk

Laakhoof

Amount in hand: 9lb

This horse appears to have a monumental advantage, being so far ahead of the handicapper. Declan Carroll’s gelding has won his last two starts but reappears here without a penalty and on an unchanged mark. The latest of those two victories came at Musselburgh five days ago and he did it easily. Provided he can show the same level of performance here, it’s difficult to envisage him being beaten.

7.55 Haydock

Abate

Amount in hand: 6lb

Adrian Nicholls’ gelding has to have a massive chance here, based on recent evidence. He won last time out under Mia Nicholls who is on board again, claiming 7lb. It was a solid performance over a stiff 5f at Hamilton and it would be no surprise if he was to follow up here.
